Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is excited to continue a partnership with The Contemporary Austin Art School! Drawing and watercolor classes will be taught in our McDermott Learning Center, a beautifully restored 19th-century carriage house nestled in the gardens.

All levels are welcome. Beginners will be introduced to the watercolor medium using traditional approaches and color theory. Intermediate-level students will advance technique through practice and critiques while also improving composition skills. Demos will include wet-into-wet washes, wet-on-dry washes, and ways to create glowing color like those you see in our gardens and natural areas!

Get to know all The Contemporary has to offer during this free, family-friendly open house. Enjoy hands-on Art School demonstrations, check out new sculptures on the grounds, take in a cool performance by School of Rock, and make art to take home.

Art Free-for-All will feature food by épicerie, Rosarito Atx, and Cold Ones, plus refreshments courtesy of Austin Eastciders, Richard's Rainwater, and Topo Chico USA. Bring the entire family and spend the day at Laguna Gloria!
